Successful Participation in the SpacebotCup 2013

Friday, November 15, 2013

The Spacebot Cup, which took place November 11-12 in Rheinbreitbach, is a special kind of competition. Robots have to independently solve difficult tasks on a planet-simulated surface built into a motocross hall. The machines have to explore their surrounding and find objects, which they ideally also have to autonomously manipulate. The event was organized by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. In total, 10 teams participated in the competition. The Jacobs University Robot was the only system that was successful in autonomously identifying and localizing both objects in the scene and completing four subtasks. Read here more about it.
